Teg lives with her father's eldest brother. Her mother died and heft her to the home, she was a muslim. Her father was in the army and people say that there wasn't any information about him, maybe he was lost somewhere.
But, no one could make her believe that his father is lost. She is every time saying that her fauji is alive somewhere and he will return back. Jeet is a college student, living with his brother, doesn't worries much about his future. His father couldn't pay his debts so he committed a suicide.
Teg along with her family comes to a nearby village to pluck cotton from fields, where she meets Jeet. They eventually fall in love. Teg's aunt scolds her a lot since she is careless and doesn't completes the household chorus timely. Jeet does all of her work, like washing clothes, preparing food etc. very secretly.
Firstly, she is shocked but later she gets to know that Jeet is responsible for that. Jeet also puts plucked cotton into her bag from other heaps, so that she earns more money.
Teg motivates him to study hard, get some good post and clear all the debts of his father. Then Teg returns to her village. She finds that Jeet has went hostel for studies when she returns after an year for plucking cotton.
Jeet meets her and gives her a phone and a pastry to eat. They talk whenever Teg is out for working. One day, she tells that she has been engaged. Also, she gives him her mother's jewelry so that he has enough money to fill forms for various competitions.
Jeet talks to her fiance, tells that he loves Teg telling him to refuse to marry. But, he beats Teg. Tarsem makes it possible to arrange a short conversation between Jeet and Teg. He tells that he will return in two days, so she hides in one of the house she works.
Jeet comes, but she is lying on the floor fainted. He wakes her up and tells that he is selected in army. He brings her back to her Uncle. Teg tells them that her fauji has come and let her marry him. They finally agree.
