When is a database in 2NF?

Answer

As, it is an advancement in 1NF, so we can say that the level of redundancy has reduced to some extent. As we proceed towards the higher normal forms, the redudancy is lowered.

If we say that a schema R is in 2NF, we must ensure that the relation satisfies the condition of being in 1NF. Also, there should be the absence of partial dependencies.

That is, every relational schema that is already in 1st normal form, and there are no partial dependencies, it is in 2nd normal from or 2NF.
