What is the difference between main memory and secondary memory?

Main Memory:

RAM(Random access memory) is the main memory. It is generally the primary memory or says read-write memory, in which all the programs which are running in the current state are saved in this memory only.

 

Secondary memory:

It is basically any external memory that can store a high volume of data. For example: CDs
