GLUT 3.1 is largely a maintence release. There are some new programs, a few minor GLUT library bug fixes, but mostly GLUT 3.1 is to make sure GLUT builds cleanly on various platforms like SunOS, HP/UX, Solaris, and Linux. See the CHANGES file included in the distribution for more details.
