The MBO technique can be used for planning as well as controlling activities in key result areas. In MBO, the superior and subordinate managers jointly define goals and frame plans. The subordinate manager implements the plan. Finally, there is a joint review of immediate performance, whereby, the superior and subordinate managers decide about control measures, to correct deviations if required.
