Why Mental Health is so Important?

According to the sources, nearly 19% of the adult population, 46% of teenagers, and 13% of children each year affects from mental illness. Because people easily talk about physical illness but, don’t focus on the mental illness of someones.

So many people are struggling with mental illness, which may include anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Those people can be one of your family members, friends, neighbors, or someone who is sitting next to you by train or bus. Out of these people, less than 50% get treated from this illness.

Why does mental illness happen?

  • Feeling loneliness, unimportant, angry, nervous, scared

  • Increase in drug or alcohol intake

  • Overthinking

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Severe mood swings

  • Elimination of important person

  • Irregular eating and not able to sleep properly

  • Feeling helpless or hopeless

  • Fighting with everyone

  • Can’t able to express what you are thinking

We can also understand this by one example of a little kid. One kid who does things according to his ability and skills, but people always used to make fun of him, and rather than appreciating, they demotivate that kid about his work. So, when the kid grows up listening to these kinds of discouraging things. He will start feeling the same as people say and don’t even try something which he wants to try like before.

They say “Speak Up Before You Give Up” so if you are one of them, share your pain to the people to whom you are most comfortable with. Because it will kill you inside in such a manner that you will indulge in such activity which you never thought of.  You don’t have to struggle in silence. You can live well with a mental health condition as long as you open up to somebody about it.

In a country like India, if people have some physical disorders they instantly run to doctors, but when it comes to mental health, they get scared to consult any therapist or psychologist because of the society and remains silent about it.

Everyone has their own untold story. Let’s not judge anyone instead, take a stand, and support your loved ones. “One small crack does not mean that you are broken, it means that you were put to the test and you didn’t fall apart.”
