Virat Kohli: Successful Person and Responsible Citizen



Men in blue jersey on cricket field as well as one of the best batsmen in the world, who is none other than Virat Kohli. He is popularly recognized as Chikoo. Virat Kohli is an Indian cricketer who currently captains the India national team. He plays for Royal Challenges Bangalore in the Indian Premier League, and has been the team's captain since 2013.


He was born in Uttam Nagar, Delhi into a Punjabi family. According to source, when he was three years old, he would pick up his cricket bat and start swinging. He completes his schooling from Vishal Bharti Public school and trained by Rajkumar Sharma and also played matches at the Sumeet Dogra Academy at Vasundhara Enclave.


In his professional life, he initially played for Delhi Under-15 team in 2002 and become captain in 2003-04 in the Polly Umrigar Trophy. Later in 2004, he was selected in the Delhi Under-17 team for the Vijay Merchant Trophy. In 2006, Kolhi was selected in the India Under-19 squad on its tour of England.


In 2008, Kolhi captained the victorious Indian team at the ICC Under-19 cricket World Cup held in Malaysia. Then, Kolhi was picked as a replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan in the India A squad for the Unofficial Test against Australia A in September 2008.


He had won many awards in recent years in One-day Internationals, Test cricket and many others. In National honour, Arjun Award (2013), Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna (2018),etc. and in ICC, Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy (2017,2018), ICC ODI Player of the Year (2012,2017,2018) and many others. He also selected as a People's Choice Award India for Favorite Sportsperson in 2012 and a stand at Arun Jaitley Stadium is named Virat Kohli Stand on 12 September 2019.


In March 2013, Kohli started a charity foundation called Virat Kohli Foundation. The organization aims at helping underprivileged kids and conducts events to raise funds for the charity.


Many videos was shared from Virat Instagram handle, in which he along with his wife, Anushka Sharma, requested the citizens of the country to stay safe by practicing self-isolation during these days. Recently, TikTok has launched a campaign called #MatKarForward to create awareness against the circulation of fake news. Virat Kohli along with Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon encourage social media users to stop forwarding videos that don't have verified information.
