The vampire Diaries: Books VS Show and some amazing facts



The vampire Dairies is an American supernatural teen drama television series introduced by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the popular book series of the same name written by L.J.Smith. We love everything about The Vampire Diaries. But we certainly don’t know everything about the vampire dairies. Let’s see some amazing facts about it.



  1. The pilot episode attracted the largest audience for The CW of any series premiere since the network began in 2006.

  2. In the novels, the Salvatore brothers were born in the 1400s. Damon was born in 1487 and Stefan in 1490. In the series the brothers lived in the 1800s. Stefan was born in 1846 and Damon in 1839.

  3. Bonnie  is the only person within the entire novel to develop a deep, strong, tender and genuine relationship with Damon Salvatore. While Bonnie has a love hate relation with Damon in the tv show, although as of the sixth season, this has dramatically changed.

  4. The book series starts out with Elena Gilbert beginning her senior years of high school. In the series the main characters attend junior year in season one and two.

  5. In the series, the Elena’s parents car accident happened 4 months prior to the first episode. In the books, her parents died when she was 14.

  6. Ian somerhalder directed season 6 episode 16, the episode where Stefan turn off his humanity and Damon finds his mothers coffin empty and realize she’s a vampire. It was his first time directing.

  7. In the salvation series of the novels, Damon and Elena go to Paris.  In the series, their road trips are strictly within the United States.

  8. Enzo is the only character that does not appear to be based off any character from the novels.

  9. Bonnie went through an Adaptation Race lift, as the character was Scottish in the books. To follow TV quotas she is the Token Minority and is Elena’s African-American Best Friend.

  10.  Paul Wesley Auditioned for the role of Damon Salvatore first. Later he read for the role of Stefan Salvatore and really stood out according to Nina. In their chemistry reading, she described him to be the one who didn’t try too hard like the other candidates. She also expressed that he didn’t speak to her, as a character, unless they were filming and were in their roles.
