The Triangle Pose (Trikonasana Yoga) for Beginner

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOING THIS:



  1. Keep your feet nice 4 feet wide in triangle.

  2. Turn your right to out your right, make sure the right heel and the arch of the left foot are aligned turn the left toes in slightly 

  3. Press down the left hip down into the heel straighten your back.

  4. Stretch your arms out

  5. Take a deep breathe in 

  6. Think of going sideways rather than down making sure both units and then reaching your arm down.

  7. Reach the left arm up towards the sky

  8. Open up the side body

  9. Open up all the ribs if you need to be higher than you can be higher.


Don't come up with these common mistakes:


Resist the temptation to bend your right knee in order to get your right hand to the floor. Keeping your right leg straight is more important. Placing a block on the floor under your hand is also an option.


Do not rest your hand directly on your knee as this puts too much pressure on the joint.

Make sure that the right heel is lined up with the arch of the left foot.

 


Benefits:


Triangle Pose strengthens the legs and stretches the groin, hamstrings, and hips, and opens the chest and shoulders. It also challenges and improves balance and stability.
