THE REALITY OF THE MOST POPULAR SHAMPOOS.

There is a wide range of hair cleansing products available in the market. While each of them claim to be the most beneficial for hair, which one do you trust? If we go through the ingredient list of some of the brands it suggest that the harmful products used can cause hair loss, irritation in scalp, illness even cancer. The reality of most trusted brands in India is disappointing. A majority of these widely used shampoos contain toxic chemicals including detergents, petroleum products, insecticides and pesticides. The ingredients also suggest that the different varieties of the same brand are in fact almost the same. So is there any grand we can rely upon?

The most commonly found brands in the market are classified into four major categories:-

1. This category has the most detrimental effect on our hair as they use more than 10 toxic chemicals. It includes popular brands such as Garnier, Head & Shoulders, Loreal, Pantene, Dove, Clinic Plus, Sunsilk and All Clear. Even brands that claim to be herbal such as Dabur Vatika, Nyle Naturals, Kesh King, Meera, Khartika and Himalaya fall under this category. We all know that there is beneficial for hair yet the bear shampoo has high amounts of strong fragrance and artificial colours.

2. This category is slightly better than category number one but still far from good. Johnson's baby and Wow fall under it and contains 6-7 toxic chemicals.

3. This category includes the brands like Lever Ayush, Biotique and Patanjali. These products use clever marketing schemes and leave the customers ashtray by hiding 90% of the ingredients used in the name of soap base. Biotique claims to use 100% botanical extracts however only mentions 10% of the ingredients used in the packaging. Lever Ayush can be seen to mention three preservatives which are highly toxic. Patanjali mentions the usage of urea, artificial colours and frequency where as biotique has its ingredients completely hidden.

4. This is the category that can be advised to people with any type of hair on skin. Khadi shampoo falls under the category as no toxic chemicals, fragrances or artificial colours have been used.

There are a variety of brands that may not be mentioned here but the ingredients used will reveal it all. Hence it is up to us to choose the right product.
