INTRODUCTION AND HISTORY:


Jaigarh is a palace or a fort situated in Cheel ka Teela (hills of eagles) of the Aravalli range. It overlooks Amer Fort and the Maota lake, near Amer, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. The fort was built by Jai Singh II to protect the Amber complex, thus was named after the king himself.


The fort rugged and similar in structural design to the Amber Fort, and is also known as The Victory Fort. It has a length of three kilometers along the North-South direction and a width of one kilometer. The fort features a cannon named Jaivana cannon. Jaigarh fort and amber fort are connected by a subterranean passage and are considered as one complex.


The Jaigarh fort is located on one of the peaks of Aravalli range and is built about 400m above the Amber Fort. It provides an excellent view of Aravalli hills and the Amer fort down below
