THE DIGITAL INDIA:


This campaign was launched by the government of India (GOI) to ensure that the government's services are made available to the citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure and by increasing internet connectivity or by making the nation digitally empowered and upgraded in the field of technology.


ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN:


The campaign was launched by the India Prime Minister Narendra Damodardas Modi, it is both the enabler and the beneficiary key for the government of India scheme such as- Bharatnet, Make in India, Startup India, Standup India, Industrial Corridors, Bharatmala, Sagarmala, dedicated freight corridors, UDAN-RCS, and E-Kranti, etc.  


THE OBJECTIVE:


The initiative includes a plan to connect the rural areas with high-speed internet network. This scheme includes three main components which are- the development of the stable and secure digital infrastructure, delivering government services digitally and finally the universal digital literacy


CURRENT STATUS OF THE CAMPAIGN:


As of 31st of December 2018, the total population of the country stands out to be near about 130 crore people, out of these 123 crores are digitally linked with an Adhaar card number, some 121 crore mobile numbers, 46 crore smartphones, and 56 crore internet users have been witnessed, up from 481 million (approximately 35 percent of the total population), wherein on 31st December 2017, 51 percent of growth in e-commerce sectors was seen.
