The day that changed everything

The 2019-2020 Corona Virus pandemic (COVID-19) changed everything. This disease was first found in Wuhan, China and soon spread all over in the world. The day I found out about it; it hadn’t touched India. As soon as the cases kept rising in India more restrictions were placed. There were lockdowns, travel bans and curfews to lay down the procedure for prevention from COVID-19.

Furthermore, the viruses can make people sick, usually with a common cold. For those with a weakened immune system, the elderly and the very young, there's a chance the virus could cause a lower, and much more serious, respiratory tract illness like a pneumonia or bronchitis. Coronavirus being contagious led to people taking preventive measures like wearing masks when leaving the house, sanitizing full body, no touching and maintaining distance all the time.

Moreover, more and more people are coming up with companies to trade across all lands and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. We can have anything at anytime of the day with just a click. Everyday the skies grew thicker till you couldn’t see the stars, so we flew in planes to see them while down below we filled our cars. We filled the sea in plastic because our waste was never capped until, each day, you went fishing you’d pull them out wrapped in plastic.

However, in 2020 this virus came our way and the governments asked us to hide away. While we were hidden amidst the fear and all the while, people dusted off their instincts, they remembered how to smile, they started clapping to say thank you and when the car keys gathered dust they would look forward to their runs. Moreover, with the skies less full of voyages the earth began to breathe.

This pandemic has affected everyone’s daily routine due to house arrest and isolation. I remember waking up for college every day early in the morning and now I wake up in the afternoon not knowing what day it is and it has become a pattern now. Everything is now done via the internet i.e. grocery shopping, online classes, online meetings and most importantly socializing.

Staying at home can lead to boredom however how you make the most of it can get a little interesting. I remember crying and ranting about our college giving us loads of assignments but I ignored the fact that it was the only thing keeping me busy. Now, I have things to do every day that I wouldn’t have done if it weren’t for the lockdown like chores, baking, drawing, painting, and cooking and most importantly, spending quality evenings with family.

Everyday hoping good news is in the making and the cure is found and we’re allowed to go outside soon. We’d all prefer the world it is now rather than the one we left behind.
