Structured Data

Structured data is always based on related information (RDBMS). Phone numbers that store data lengths, Social Security numbers, or ZIP codes. Even strings of text of various lengths such as words are contained in the record, making it easy to search. Data may be generated by man- or machine as long as the data is created within the RDBMS structure. This format is highly searchable with queries generated by individuals and algorithms using data type and field names, such as alphabet or number, currency or date.

Common data-based applications with organized data include aircraft booking systems, asset management, sales transactions, and ATM function. Structured Query Language (SQL) creates queries with this type of structured data within the database.

Some relationship-related records store or refer to informal information such as customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Integration can be very difficult because the memo fields do not lend themselves to traditional detail queries. However, most CRM data is built.
