INTRODUCTION:

Safdarjung's Tomb is a sandstone and marble mausoleum in New Delhi, India and was built in the year 1754 for Nawab Safdarjung. This tomb was built in the late Mughal Empire style safdarjung. Mirza muqib Abdul Mansur Khan popularly known as Nawab Safdarjung, ruled over Awadh as the viceroy under the king Muhammad Shah, he was known to be a rich and a very powerful ruler. Soon after the death of Muhammad Shah the king shifted his empire to Delhi. The throne was then ascended by Muhammad shah Ahmed Shah and he became the prime minister,  soon the emperor's family invited Martha's to get rid of the prime minister. Martha's drove Safdarjung out if Delhi and he died in 1754, thereafter.

Nawab Shujaud Daula pleaded the Mughal emperor to erect a tomb after Nawab Safdarjung for his father in Delhi. He then built a tomb which was designed by Abbyssininan architect. To the South of the tomb is the historic site if the battle that was fought in 1386 between Timur of Mangol and Muhammad Tuglaq when the latter was defeated.
