Remedies for menstrual cramps

One of the most common problem amongst women, but rarely discussed problem is Menstrual cramps.

Searching for remedies online sometimes are pointless, since most of the tips suggest you to go seek a doctor, doesn't it? So, let me share some personal experience with you. I went through two different types of phases with the menstrual cramps and I listed out things what are the ways and solutions for it. The two phases were

1. When I used to have absolutely normal periods and no cramps at all!

2. This is when I started having my menstrual cramps.

After analysing what happened during the two phases, I came to this conclusion.

During the 1st phase, I used to be active in sports. I used to play football as mains and other sports as sides. So, eventually I had to go for practice everyday. This turned out to be the daily routine. Having regular exercise schedule helped me increase my stamina and endurance. My exercise routine wasn't complicated at all. It mostly involved running and basic workouts. Trust me, those were the days when I had the most comfortable and smooth menstrual cycle. Regular exercise won't affect you in anyway right?

I know it is difficult to start exercising right away. So rather than forcing yourself, make it as 4 days per week. Then gradually increase a day every other week and by the end of the month, you'll start exercising everyday. It will be very tiring and a little painful when you begin, of course, but you'll immediately fall in love with your lifestyle as soon as you start seeing the results.

"It's not always easy, but it's always worth it" isn't it?

So, the second phase took charge as I had to put a pause on sports to concentrate on my studies, as college is not easy to survive. This was the period when I started getting menstrual cramps and they were the worst. The abdominal pain got so intense that I couldn't even move my body at all! Constant nausea and dizziness took over due to intense cramps. I didn't have time to workout due to my tightly packed schedule, and hence, I couldnt get rid of these cramps beforehand. But instead, I started searching for things that can be done when I get the cramps! So here are few tricks you can try.

1. Fenugreek seeds: Soaked fenugreek seeds works wonder on the cramps! It is also good for kidney, liver and metabolism. It works 100% without any side effects.

2. Warm water: Warm water is far most, the simplest and fastest working remedy! A glass of warm water will slowly absorb the irritation and pain from your abdomen and will sooth your stomach and uterus.

3. Tea with mint leaves: A cup of green tea or chamomile tea with mint in it is also an effective way to beat the pain. Not only that, it will also take away your sluggishness and makes you feel lighter.

4. Massage: Massage the place where it hurts the most, preferably using either coconut oil. This will increase the blood circulation on that particular region canceling the pain.

5. Basil leaves: Basil leaves contains caffeic acid which has pain killing properties. Add basil leaves to 2-3 cups of warm water and drink.

6. Cinnamon: One of the richest and best thing for a healthy body is Cinnamon. It has anti-inflammatory properties, also rich in calcium, iron, fiber and manganese. Add 2-3 spoons of cinnamon powder in warm water, or you can drink cinnamon tea aswell!

So ladies! Now that you've got both, a long term and a short term plan for your menstrual cramps, don't wait for it and try it all out and have a comfortable and smooth periods.
