Rape,Rapists and the Chastisement

Rape has become a culture/tradition these days similar to the way we go to temple/mosque or chruch.It's like if you havent done it,it's a question on your character.But it is nothing to be proud of.It is a shameful act now understood as a pathological assertion of power over a victim.

Any kind of sexual behaviour without the consent of the opposite person falls under the Rape.These days it has become a trend to victim blame and the worst part is that people do not believe it unless there is any physical sign or attested report.The victims are also not given the authority to speak for their own and raise theie voice.This gives the rapist the permission of committing the heinous crime againand also leads to undereporting andunderprosecution. Infact if having certain laws for punishing the rapists there is an increase in the number of cases it is evidently not limited to any one gender,age,race and religion.

The psychological motivations of the rapists are unclear and complex as they ruin the live of the victim as well as the family,and the victin deserves justice.But the bitter truth is that the process of justice is slow and the price is paid by the victim and their family.By the time the judgement is announced we haer a numberf other cases and this really raises a question the judicail system of the country.

There are two kinds of opinion on the way justice should be given to the victim i.e. retributive justice where the criminal is given punishment for what he/she has done or distributive justice where the criminal requires fairness and a chance to transform himself or herself.But in the case of a Rape,there is a growing echo of people towards treating the rapists the same way they have done to the victim(go through a lot of pain).

Chastisement describes punishing and criticizing someone strongly.Here the wors suits the rapists but actually there is a irony.Our society punishes the victim for this brutal act.It has been said that the way a woman dresses excites the rapist but then wohat would one say when a 3-4 year old is raped?Why are women being chastised for these crimes?One axto f rape turns the entire life of the victim in jeopardy if alive.What has to change is the way the  society thinks because what happens witht the victim is not his/her fault.
