MYSTERY BEHIND IRON PILLAR IN DELHI.

INTRODUCTION AND ARCHITECTURE:


Iron pillar is the long structure that was constructed by a king Chandra, probably Chandragupta ll and is standing at Qutub complex, in MEHRAULI, Delhi, India. This pillar is 28 feet's and 8 inches high (7.2 M), with 16 inches of diameter structure. This pillar is quite a bit of rust- resistant and is famous for the composition of metals used in it. 


HISTORY: 


The Iron pillar stands tall in the middle of Quwwatul Mosque and dates back to Fourth century AD. It is considered to one of the most curious structures in Delhi with having inscription in Brahmani Character erected in the honor of Hindu god Vishnu. Some people say that it was made in the memory of Chandragupta ll, perhaps there are many archeologist, historians and scientist who have been studying it for years now, but the mystery remains unsolved. 


According to the past records it was situated in Madhya Pradesh before it moved to Delhi. It was erected by Kumara Gupta of Gupta dynasty that ruled northern infia from 320-540 AD. Along with this the Iron pillar has not been rusted for years leaving everyone bewildered. 


It is discovered that a thin layer of misawite, a compound of hydrogen, oxygen and iron protected the iron pillar from rust. The protective film book took the form of within three years after erection and has been growing ever since.
