Methods Of Staying Entertained In The Period Of Lockdown!

To be honest, it seems like years have passed since the lockdown began, the different days of the week have coalesced into a single unnamed day and the concept of time has become irrelevant.

Still being a college student during the lockdown and having almost negligible college work, I have to find ways to keep myself entertained during the time that I’m not sleeping.

At the beginning of the lockdown with little knowledge of how long this was going to last, I resorted to binge-watching shows on streaming services as a means to entertain myself and pass the time but since then a lot has changed as there seems to be no nearing end to this lockdown.

One of my biggest achievements during this lockdown has involved doing something that I’m good at but haven’t paid much attention to sharpen my skills and that is cooking. For the past few weeks, cooking has provided me solace in this time of tensions and also served as an apt form of entertainment. From cooking easy dishes for myself to preparing food for the whole family, I’ve come a long way in developing this skill and also I like to think that I’m improving upon it too.

Being an art student I have yet to explore other ways of entertaining myself other than being busy cooking and reading as I could dive into drawing or painting but sadly sleep has now taken over my schedule and most of my time is spent sleeping and for the time that I am awake is already occupied by the various activities that I’m already working on.

We all have different ways to cope with difficult times and also we all have different hobbies and interests. But I can surely say that these things have kept me aptly entertained and for the rest of my time I have devoted myself to working out, listening to music, and also hanging out with my family.

For most people including myself, this is a difficult time as we are used to being busy in our work and haven’t had this much time to reflect upon ourselves. Although this is tough and we might be inclined to find distractions, I think that this period of free time could be better utilized to introspect upon ourselves and work on our mental health because as much as entertainment is necessary, it is also important that we are prepared mentally and emotionally for the times to come ahead as this pandemic will surely leave a mark on the whole world.
