Lifestyle in the Times of Pandemic

With the world being affected by the novel corona-virus, functioning of not only the society but lives of people has also been altered to a great extent. Work from home is the new normal and nobody wants to step out of the house without a mask. It is quite evident that the normal lifestyle has changed a lot and a “new normal” has somewhat been established.

The corona virus has said to have many symptoms if contracted by someone; however it has many effects on the mental and physical health even if not contracted by people. With the gyms and other physical fitness programmes and spaces being closed people have to work for their fitness staying at their homes. Talking about mental health, with so much time at hand and being confined into ones house, many people tend to overthink and lapse into a loop of depression or other mental problems. It can be seen that the virus has far reaching effects on the whole lifestyle of a person. With social distancing policies into play, people can no longer go out to restaurants or meet their friends or even go on a holiday just to lay back and relax. People are expected to stay where they are and carry on with their work. The pandemic may have hampered our movement around the world; however, it does not change our work deadlines or scheduled classes. Therefore, we are not rid of the work stresses and now we have family stresses added up to that pile. At such times, it is very important to device new systems and explore new hobbies to keep our mind and heart at peace.

“Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time”. And what better time than the present to engage our mind into whatever one finds engaging and channelling our energy towards something creative. Exploring yourself is important; introspection is the key to personal development. Yoga and meditation can also help to calm the nerves and bring inner peace.

There is no denying the fact that the times are bad and the situation that has been incurred has far reaching effects in every sense. At such a time of crisis it is important for us to have a strong will, and have hope that the situation will get better soon. However, till then we should focus on our personal well-being and make sure to wear masks and stay safe.
