INTRODUCTION:


International Doll Museum in Delhi, India has a large collection of Dolls, which was set up by Shankar Pillai who was a very known political cartoonist. Housed in the children's book trust-building on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, accessed through a separate entrance along with a winding staircase, leading up to a foyer. The museum has a floor area of 5,184.5 sq ft and occupies a portion of the first floor. The Doll Museum is one of the renowned museums in the entire country with a huge collection of Dolls from across the globe.


The former president of India DR. S. Radhakrishanan inaugurated the museum. At that time the museum just had 500 dolls in total, perhaps in between 1965 to 1987, the number of dolls has been risen to 5,000, a vast majority coming as a gift. Today the volume has increased to 6,500 with artifacts from across 85 countries adding its fame internationally.
