INTRODUCTION:


Mughal emperor built Jama Masjid between 1650 to 1656 AD. It was constructed by more than 5,000 workers. Masjid-e-Jahan-Numa or Jama Masjid of Delhi is one of the largest mosques in the Indian Subcontinent. The cost of the Masjid is approximately one million rupees and was inaugurated by Imam Sayyid Abdul Gafoor Bukhari from Bukhara (present-day Uzbekistan).


HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN:


The mosque was completed in 1656 AD with three gates and two 42m high minarets constructed with the strip of red sandstone and white marble. The building has a huge courtyard that can accommodate more than 25,000 people. On the floor, there is a total of 899 marble marked for the worshippers. It is an influence for Badshahi Masjid that was built by Shah Jahan's son Aurangzeb at Lahore, Pakistan.
