Impact of Mathematics in This Changing World

n two decades ago, we were in the midst of a technological revolution. Computer performance has almost doubled every year. Too much information is now being transferred and processed. While much progress has been made in computer hardware, computer software development has been lagging behind. Dealing with the problems of star size and complexity, clever methods and powerful tools are in great demand. Similar to the great influence of physics in many areas of mathematics, computers will be a major factor in promoting mathematics. On the other hand, statistics will have a major impact on all stages of development in the next round of technological change, from the establishment of information infrastructure to software research.

What does a graduate student need to do in order to prepare for the exciting and exciting times ahead for math? In addition to learning as many statistics as possible, there are areas where special attention is required. Alternative mathematics, studying the basic structures of different structures, has now turned into a rich and powerful discipline with a growing connection in other areas of mathematics and computer science. It would be helpful for a graduate student (including those who are actively working in further mathematical studies) to get some exposure to complex mathematics such as combinatorics, graph theory and number theory, which is better than the introductory distance. In addition, there are many other subjects that are to be commended such as computer-assisted (or imaginary) geometry, possible (or integrated approaches), numerical methods or subjects divided by courses in algorithms and data structures. However, it is sad to note that very few universities offer the many courses mentioned above.

Henry Pollak once said, "There is no real difference between pure statistics and applied statistics. There is only a difference between good statistics and bad statistics." These words have had a lasting impact on my work and I hope they will be useful to students, especially those who will have uneducated jobs.
