The rainy season is here! Although the rains give a much needed relief from the sweltering heat, it also brings with it about of infections and diseases. Here are a few tips to stay healthy this monsoon:
-Avoid outside food
It may be tempting to have that hot plate of pakodas when raining outside. But outside food is best avoided in this season. Home cooked nutritious meals are a must to give immunity against diseases.
-Plenty of clean water
Always have boiled or filtered water, and make sure to drink plenty of it. It helps in removal of toxins from the body.
-Have Vitamin C rich foods
Food like oranges, kiwi, cherries are known to be rich in vitamin c and help in preventing cold and cough.
-Warm liquids
Hot soup, herbal tea, masala tea and hot coffee are all known to soothe a sore throat.
-Wash hands frequently
Washing hands helps in keeping the diseases at bay.
-Warm water bath
Taking a hot shower after getting wet in the rain helps in removing all the infections that the body may have carried due to the rain.
-Avoid getting wet in the rain
Getting drenched in the rain is a big no-no. Always change wet clothes as soon as possible.
-Mosquito repellants
Monsoon is the peak season for mosquito borne diseases such as malaria and dengue. Always use mosquito repellent creams or patches.
