Method 2: Delete 'compattellrunner.exe' after the acquisition of owner rights



  1. Acquire owner rights by logging into your computer via the administrator account.

  2. Press the key that has the logo of Windows imprinted on it along with the R button.

  3. Type C:Windows\System32 and then, press enter or the 'OK' using the mouse as shown in the picture below.


 


4.This opens up a directory window. Find the file named 'CompatTelRunner'.


5.Right-click on 'compattellrunner.exe' and go to 'properties' and click the 'Security Tab'


6. After clicking 'Security Tab', open Advanced settings. This opens up a new tab.


7. Hereafter, go to the 'Owner' tab and click on Edit.


8. Then, select 'Administrators' and then select 'Apply' and then click 'OK'. This saves the changes that you have made.


9. In step 4, you opened a System32 folder, now you must right click Capattelrunner.exe and choose properties, then advanced tab and select permissions and then select your administrator account.


10. Check the allow box placed adjacent to 'Full Control'


11. Now, you can simply delete CompatTelRunner.exe file and then delete it from the recycle bin too.


Method 3: Using the Task Scheduler



  1. As in previous steps, the first step is to hold the windows key along with the 'R' key.

  2. Type taskschd.msc before selecting 'OK' as shown in the picture below.


 3. This initiates the display of the Task Scheduler window. You may click it and expand it.


4. Select the Microsoft folder and then the Windows folder.


5. Click on Application Experience Folder. This opens up a window that contains several tasks.


6. The task named Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser must be right-clicked and disabled. Now you must restart your computer and you are all good to go!


Method 4: Using Group Policy Editor



  1. Press the window key along with the 'R' key and then type in as shown in the screenshot below.


2. Click on Computer Configuration and then on Administrative Templates. Once this is done, click on Data Collection and then, Preview Builds.


3. Now you must double click allow telemetry and then click on disabled and then 'OK'.


Method 5: Using Registry Editor



  1. Press window logo key+'R'

  2. Select 'yes'

  3. Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and click on SOFTWARE. Then go to Policies and then Microsoft and Windows and finally, DataCollection.

  4. Now, right-click on DataCollection and select New and then DWORD(32 bit) value as shown in the picture below.


 5. Rename the Value name to 'Allow Telemetry' and change the Value data to '0' and click on 'OK'


Method 6: Update the device drivers


There are 2 ways to update the device driver:


1. Manual Driver Update


Visit the manufacturer's website and find the driver that is appropriate for your device.


2. Automatic Driver Update


Instead of manually doing this you may use Driver Easy to automatically update. For this, you must download Driver Easy and click the Scan Now button. Then click on the Update button and manually install it. Once all this is done, restart your device and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC and check if the disk space consumed is normal.
