INTRODUCTION:


Red Fort also known as Lal Quila is the historic fort in the city of Delhi, India. Every year on Independence day the prime minister of India hoists the Indian tricolor flag at the main gate of the fort and delivers nationally broadcasted speech. 


HISTORY:


Shahjahan built a new city Shahjahanabad and a fort in red sandstone on the banks of river Yamuna in 1639. Over the time the fort came to be known as Red Fort because of its color red, thus its name in Hindi is Lal Quila. The fort built in Agra by Akbar is also red perhaps is known as Agra fort instead. 


MAJOR STRUCTURES INSIDE THE RED FORT COMPLEX:


Ther are plenty of buildings inside the red fort complex, these are: 


LAHORE GATE, DELHI GATE, CHHATTA GATE, NAUBATT KHANA, DIWAN-I-ALAM, NAHAR-I-BHISHIT, MUMTAZ MAHAL, RANG MAHAL, KHAS MAHAL, DIWAN-I-KHAS, HAMMAM, BAOLI, MOTI MASJID, HIRA MASJID, PRINCESS'S QUATER, HAYAT BAKSH BAGH.


The area listed above pretty much seems to be the places where the king and his queens use to perform daily household chores, which includes cooking, playing, bathing, and other entertainment activities.
