HEALING CRACKED LIP CORNERS AT HOME

1)   SIMPLE ORGANIC AND HERBAL REMEDIES:

Initial stages of mild angular cheilitis can be treated at home following some simple steps but on  a timely basis:

(a)    CUCUMBER THERAPY:

Cut a thin slice of cucumber and apply it gently on the two sides of your lips. You can either place them on the affected area for sometime or rub them gently over the skin. It will alleviate the soreness, caused due to angular cheilitis and provide a temporary relief.

(b)   NEEM THERAPY:

Crush some freshly picked neem leaves and extract the juice out of them. Apply it gently on the skin of the affected area to destroy the microorganisms.

2)    HOMEMADE LIPBALM:

2 tablespoons of tea tree oil, 1 tablespoon of Vitamin E oil and half tablespoon of petroleum jelly is to be mixed and applied to the cracks as many times as possible. This would help to reduce the swellings or sores at the corners of the lips and prevent further infection. Scars would also be healed soon if this is applied daily.

3)   ALOE VERA GEL:

Mainly used for nourishing skin hair, aloe vera gel is very useful in reducing in inflammations and soothes the skin. Cool the aloe vera gel in the refrigerator and massage this cool gel over the infected area with your hand and leave it for 15 minutes. This will definitely provide relief and nourishment.

4)   HONEY:

This is one of the best methods for the lips to be used at home. In case of angular cheilitis, simply apply the honey, preferably a little warm, over the corners of the lips. This works anti- microbially and helps prevent further infection from bacteria or fungi. It also destroys the germs present in the smaller cracks as it is jelly like and hence can easily slip into the intimate and injured areas in the lips. This remedy is especially good for children as they love to have the taste of honey and would not be forceful to make them apply it for a long time.

5)  OLIVE OIL AND COCONUT OIL:

Olive oil is a very common home treatment and works good in terms of being anti-bacterial and anti- fungal in nature. Olive oil can be one of the best ingredients to moisturize lips and prevent them from cracks. Applying a little warm olive oil to the cracked lip corners at night as well as twice a day are bound to surprise you with the instant results. Adding some coconut oil to the damaged areas would provide nourishment to the broken tissues and cracked corners. This helps reducing inflammation and pain.
