DU: Not conduct exams for first and second year

Delhi University will not be conducting examinations for the first and second-year undergraduate students and first-year postgraduate students. As a one time measure due to COVID19, this is for students of regular colleges as well as the School of Open Learning and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB).

Issuing a notification on Thursday, dean examination Vinay Gupta, said, “In view of the prevailing situation of COVID19 it is notified here to all concerned that the intermediate/semester/term year students shall be graded with an alternative mode of examination. Conducting exams in the conventional mode i.e. pen and paper is not feasible as per the existing government norms of maintaining social distancing and safety and health of students.”

Notification further reads " Grading of the second year students of UG and 2nd semester (Ist Year) students of PG could be composite of 50% on the basis of the pattern of assignment based evaluation for students of Annual scheme and the remaining 50% marks shall be awarded on the basis of the performance in the previous semester/year." That's the students will be evaluated based on 50% internal assessment/assignments as adopted by the college/department. The rest 50% will be calculated based on marks scored in the previous semester.

However, the final semester students will have to appear under the online open book examination (OBE). And the university will be conducting online OBE from July 1.
