Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19)



Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease. This virus is known to cause humans respiratory infections starting from common cold to other diseases related to respiratory system. .

The spread of the disease initiated from Wuhan,China in December 2019. The origin story of the virus was in December 2019 when someone from seafood market in Wuhan, China was infected with a virus from a mammal. As a result of this citizens started falling ill. Although it's still not confirmed that the origin story is hypothetical or true.

Patients have different symptoms on different stages, the initial could be pains, sore throat, headache, conjunctivitis, loss of taste or smell, rashes on skin and the serious and the later ones are shortness of breath, chest pain, loss of speech or movement. If one notices any of the serious symptoms, one should immediately contact a doctor or emergency lines given by the government. The infected person shows symptoms in 5 to 6 days after catching the virus.

This virus is contagious and is spread by exhaling, coughing or coming in direct contact with the infected person. It is important to stay a meter away from any person while being in a contact.

In January 2020, the first case was confirmed in India. Later the virus started spreading in the nation and in March 2020, PM Narendra Modi took measures against pandemic by making the lockdown mandatory in India. In Mid of March 2020, a religious gathering of 9000 people was conducted by Tablighis in Nizamuddin Markaz Mosque which was supposed to happen in Mumbai but was rejected due to safety measures. The gathering included worshipers from different countries due to which coronavirus was spread affecting 4000 people.

After the hike in patients the spread of virus increased everyday and people are suggested to follow social distancing. It is advised to:

  1. Wear mask and gloves

  2. Avoid coming in direct contact with anyone.

  3. Only move out of the house when needed.

  4. Not to touch eyes, mouth, nose often.

  5. Wash hands frequently.

Over that one should follow a diet that helps in boosting immunity and visit doctor if any minor symptom is being noticed.
