Conversation Management

Have you ever wished that you had the ability to talk to strangers?

There would be some people who can bring the best in you when you talk to them and you feel comfortable. They could be old friends or someone you just met, but the conversation just seems to flow smoothly and naturally.

Having a meaningful conversation is something that can be learned, and with the focus and practice, we can all become better at it.

Following are some strategies that can put us on the right track:

1. Get out yourself and make it about the other person:

If someone is talking endlessly about something in which you don't have interest, you feel like the person is talking with themselves and you are just there. But, the best conversation began by showing an interest in the other person's interest. If you ask them about themselves that you notice about them, they start to give answers quickly. If you can give some compliments and positive feedback, you have made a great start.

2. Practice active listening:

Most of the people are thinking about what they want to say next while someone else is speaking. You should aware while having a conversation and try to speak but first focus on the conversation. This is not easy, if you want to make it easy then do practice with your parents or friends and repeat after them.

3. Move the conversation to a deeper level:

You are willing to open up and sharing things with people. The things that make you comfortable are making good eye contact that make you feel that you are receiving full attention. You should pay attention to their expressions and notice that not only in terms of words but also in terms of expression they are with you. Their faces will light up when you share something exciting. Then you feel that they are totally engaged in what you are telling them.

4. Ask good question:

If you want the conversation to be deeper then try to ask questions. If you ask questions then it will help you to go on a deeper conversation. Ask good questions and get to know how they think about something they are talking about. It will bring a deeper interest in that conversation.

5. Consider time and space:

If you want a good conversation then you should go to those places in which you can communicate calmly. Coffee shops are a great place instead of a sports bar.
