CHINA CIVILIZATION

China is one of the places where civilization developed first. It has a recorded history of almost 5,000 years.

More than a million years ago, the ancients lived in what is now China. About 400,000 to 500,000 years ago, Peking Man, an elderly man living in Zhoukoudian southwest of Beijing, was able to walk with a straight body, make and use light tools, and use fire. Six to seven thousand years ago, the people living in the Yellow River Valley made a living mainly from agriculture, while also raising livestock. More than 3,000 years ago these people began smelting copper using ironware.

Rice was cultivated as early as 13,000 BCE

In China, the slave community began around the 21st century B.C. Over the next 1,700 years, agriculture and livestock greatly improved and silk production, raw silk and silk production became more widespread. Bronze smelting and casting skills reach a relatively high level, and smelting is increasingly complex. Chinese culture flourished, with the emergence of a large number of thinkers and philosophers, most famous Confucius.

In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty, established a united, multilateral empire. This period of imperial society continued until after the Opium War in 1840. During the 2,000 years, China's economy and culture continued to flourish, leaving behind a rich legacy of science and technology, literature and art. The great inventions of ancient China - paper production, printing, compasses, and explosions - have proved to be a major factor in global civilization.

Ancient Chinese civilization flourished in the Tang Dynasty (618-907) while the Tang people traded with people all over the world. That is why the Chinese who live overseas often call themselves Tang Ren, or the Tang People.

In 1840, eager to continue the opium trade in China, Britain launched the Opium War with China. After the war, major foreign powers forcibly settled "treaties" and divided China into "spheres of influence"; therefore, China was transformed into a colonial society.

In 1911, the Xinhai Revolution, led by Sun Yat-sen, completely overthrew the monarchy, establishing the Republic of China, and thus began modern Chinese history.

In 1949, the Chinese Communist Party of China formed the People's Republic of China, conducted the Kumingtang Party and moved to the Island of Taiwan.
