Aquatic Therapy



           Regular exercise is the key to improve and nurture our health. By proper exercising, we are able to meet the 'healthy and fit' version of ourselves. One of the ways of staying healthy and fit is aquatic therapy or water treatment.


          In simpler words, performing physical exercises in water is known as aquatic therapy. In the early 1940s aquatic therapy was started being used to minimise muscle and joint pain, cramps, post-fracture treatment and even as one of the cures for mental illnesses. Aquatic therapy improves blood circulation and co-ordination of the brainal nerves. It is also an interesting way of weight loss and maintain body fitness. Therapists advice to perform simple and basic physical movements for the beginners according to their issues.


Benefits of Aquatic Therapy :-


1. Muscles become sufficiently relaxed. Due to the use of lukewarm water, blood is circulated through every part of the body.


2. It not only helps the patient to gain muscular strength but also provides body immunity.


3. The property of buoyancy of water proves to be really useful in this therapy.


4. The healing qualities of water reduce pain and cramps.


          In the recent years, there have been many advancements in this field. There exists various types of aquatic therapy. One of those types is Aqua Aerobics. It has proven to be assuringly helpful to reduce back pain and muscles adjoining the spinal cord. Aqua therapy is a stress buster in itself. If you love dancing, you won't find a partner like water. But it is equally important to consult a therapist before proceeding.
