INTRODUCTION:

National Rail Museum in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi displays and exhibits the history of rail transport in India. The museum was inaugurated on 1st February 1977 and spans over the area of 10 acres. The museum features stimulation of the coaches, diesel engines and steam engines. The museum was first proposed in 1962, under the advertisement of rail enthusiast Michael Graham Satow. Construction began in 1970 and on October 1971 the foundation stone was laid at the museum's present site in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi by the then president of India Shri V.V. GIRI.
