INTRODUCTION:

Lodhi garden is a city garden situated in New Delhi, India. It is spread over 90 acres of land and contains the tomb of Muhammad Shah and Sikandar Lodhi along with Shisha Gumbad and Bars Gumbad, this marks the architectural work of the Lodi's who ruled northern India, Punjab and Khyber province (present day Pakistan) during 15th century AD. The site is now protected by archeological survey of India (ASI). The garden is situated between Khan market and Safdarjung tomb in Lodhi road.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN:

In the middhel of the garden is the Bars Gumabad (big dome), perhaps it is not a dome, instaed a large gateway to an attached three domed masjid,  which was built during the reign of Sikander Lodi. Opposite to the Bara Gumbad is the Shisha Gumbad (mirror dome), for the glazed tittle used for it's construction, which contains the remains of unknown family and also belongs to the reign of Sikander Lodi only.

Further into the gardens are the remains of watercourse which connects to the yamuna river to the tomb of Sikander Lodi. The tomb of Muhammad Shah, the last ruler of Sayyid dynasty is the earliest tomb built in the garden in 1444 AD by ala-ud-din aalam shah as a tribute to the Muhammad Shah.
