1. RUSKIN BOND
Born on 19th May 1934, in a small town of Himachal Pradesh, he went on to become one of the most celebrated authors in the Indian history.

2. AMITAV GHOSH
Born in the land of Bengalis, Kolkata in the year 1956. Mr. Ghosh has written many famous books and the winner of the 54th Jnanpith Award. Many of his books were nominated for International Booker Prize, Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novels, and many more.
Some of his famous books include – River Smoke, Flood of Fire, Gun Island, The Glass Palace, etc.
3. SUDHA MURTHY
She is an English and Kannada Author. Chairperson of the Infosys Foundation by profession. She is also a member of the public health care initiatives of the Gates Foundation. She is the winner of the Padam Shri Award and has written over 40+ titles.
Some of her famous titles include – Three Thousand Stitches, House of Cards, The Daughter from a Wishing Tree, The Upside-Down King, etc.
4. RABINDRANATH TAGORE
The very renowned author all over the world and the first non-European winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. He was also known by his pen name Bhanu Singha Thakur. His compositions become the national anthem of two countries, first being India “Jana Mana Gana” and second being Bangladesh “Amar Shonar Bangla”. Sri Lankan’s national anthem is also inspired by his works.

5. ARUNDHATI ROY
Winner of the Man Booker Prize for fiction in 1997, she is one of the bestselling authors we have. Professionally speaking she is also a political activist involved in human rights and environmental causes. “In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones”, was the film which made her win the National Film Award for the best screenplay. Also, the winner of the Sydney Peace Prize.

6. KHUSHWANT SINGH
He was not only a famous author but also a journalist, lawyer, diplomat, and politician. Inspired from the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947, he wrote “Train to Pakistan” in 1956, becoming his most well-known novel. Winner of Padam Bhushan and Padam Vibhushan award.
His famous works include – Train to Pakistan, The Sikhs, The Sunset Club, I shall Not Hear the Nightingale, etc.
