Rani Mukherji is a popular Bollywood actress who was born to a former director and playback singer. Also a cousin to famous actress Kajol, Bollywood was never a distant dream for Rani Mukherji. She started getting training in Odissi dance while she was only in 10th grade. Rani Mukherjee made her first on-screen appearance in a short cameo in her father's film, Biyer Phool. But her actual debut came in 1996 when she played the protagonist for the film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat. Her next film came in 1998 in form of Ghulam in which she starred alongside Aamir Khan. The song Aati Kya Khandala got her noticed among the masses. One performance that needs special mention is the one in Black in which she played a deaf and dumb apprentice to Amitabh Bachchan. For this role she interacted heavily with the professionals at the Helen Keller Institute in Mumbai. She has been a part of many international promotional tours like the Temptations, HELP! Telethon and the closing ceremony of 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games. She has also been quoted as Asia's 36th sexiest women by UK's Eastern Eye.
