Harishankar Parsai (August 22, 1924 – 1995) was a noteworthy Hindi writer. He was a satirist and humorist of modern Hindi literature. His style of writing was extremely simple and direct.
Parsai was born near Itarsi in Hoshangabad district, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his M.A. in English. After pursuing writing along with his professional life for some time, he went about quitting his job and take up writing full-time.
Parsai settled in Jabalpur and founded a literature magazine called Vasudha. He eventually stopped the magazine after it suffered economic losses.
Parsai passed away on August 10, 1995 in Jabalpur.
He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1982, for his satire, Viklaang Shraddha Ka Daur.
