Fiona MacCarthy is a British biographer and cultural historian. Her writings include All Things Bright and Beautiful: British Design 1830 to Today, The Simple Life: C. R. Ashbee in the Cotswolds, The Omega Workshops: Decorative Arts of Bloomsbury, Eric Gill, William Morris: A Life for our Time, Stanley Spencer: An English Vision, Byron: Life and Legend, Last Curtsey: The End of the Debutantes, and The Last Pre-Raphaelite: Edward Burne-Jones and the Victorian Imagination. She has also been the curator of exhibitions such as Homespun to Highspeed: British Design 1860 to 1960 for Sheffield Museums and Art Galleries, The Omega Workshops: Decorative Arts of Bloomsbury for the Crafts Council, Eye for Industry: retrospective of the Royal Designers for the Victoria and Albert Museum, and Byron for the National Portrait Gallery. She writes for The Guardian, Times Literary Supplement, and The New York Review of Books.
Fiona MacCarthy was raised in London. She attended Wycombe Abbey School and Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. She studied English Literature in Oxford.
