Satyapal Anand is a poet, critic and writer. He has written fiction and poetry books in English, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. He has also been rewarded extensively for his literary work.
After the partition of India, his family moved to Ludhiana where he earned a Masters in English from the Punjab University in Chandigarh. Later, he did a doctorate degree in English Literature on "Changing concept of the nature of reality and literary techniques of expression." He earned his second doctoral degree in Philosophy from Texas.
Anand published a poetry collection, a collection of stories, and novels, all in Urdu in a span of two years. His poems are based on various subjects like history, mythology or mixed culture of the West and the East.
