Sarnath Banerjee Biography and latest books by Sarnath Banerjee

Primarily an Indian graphic novelist, the 1972-born Sarnath Banerjee is also a film maker and an artist. A Kolkata-born Banerjee resides and works in Delhi presently. Notably, he studied at the University of London, at the Goldsmiths College, Image and Communication.

Banerjee first burst into graphic novel limelight with his first Penguin Books published Corridor (2004). The graphic novel told of four different, unconventional characters, all looking to lead better lives, leading to hilarious, sombre results. In 2007 came the multi-character mix of The Barn Owl\'s Wondrous Capers. Various stories flowed here, experimentation in random storytelling was a noticeable feature.Again, decorated with abstract details and a theme that deals with India, post liberalization was the 2011 graphic novel The Harappa Files.

Meanwhile, Banerjee has been illustrating book covers and illustrations for novels in his unique style. In order to provide a platform to other Indian graphic artists, Banerjee along with Anindya Roy set up a graphic novel company called Phantomville. The company has already released two graphic novels under this label and an upcoming work on hockey wizard Dhyan Chand is awaited, at the time of writing.

Banerjee latest claim to fame was working on a series of posters put up by Frieze Foundation for the London Olympics 2012 in the city.
