Sanjay Suri has been chief editor of a news agency - Inter Press Service since December 2009. Prior to this he has worked in the capacity of Europe editor for the Indo-Asian News Service. He has also worked with the Indian Express newspaper in Delhi, as sub-editor crime correspondent, chief reporter and political correspondent.
Suri has covered Operation Bluestar in Amritsar, the assassination of Indira Gandhi and the subsequent riots. Other assignments include abuse of children in Tihar jail.
Suri was born in Jalandar, Punjab. He has an M.A. in English literature from the University of Delhi and a second master’s degree in social and Organisational psychology from the London School of Economics.
Sanjay has authored Brideless in Wembley, a non-fiction account of the immigration experiences of Indians in Britain. Suri comments on his book: “The way Indians were being Indian, someone had to take notes.” The book takes a look at the Brit-Asian society through the eyes of a neutral observer. The narrative at times alternates between marveling with admiration or guffawing with disbelief and exploding with anger.
