Sake Dean Mahomed (1759 – 24 February 1851) was a traveler, surgeon and entrepreneur of Indian origin. He introduced the Indian curry house restaurant in Britain, and was the first Indian ever to have written a book in English.
Mahomed also established "shampooing" baths in Great Britain, where he offered therapeutic massage.
He was born in 1759 in Patna, Bihar then part of the Bengal Presidency. His father was employed in the East India Company.
Sake Dean Mahomed was raised in Bihar. He lost his father when he was young. He served in the British East India Company as a trainee surgeon and served against the Marathas.
Mahomed has published a travel book, The Travels of Dean Mahomet. The book Speaks highly of Genghis Khan, Timur and Babur. The book also talks in depth about several important cities in India.
