Michael Frayn is an English playwright and writer. His novels include The Tin Men, The Russian Interpreter, Towards the End of the Morning, A Very Private Life, Sweet Dreams, The Trick of It, A Landing on the Sun, Now you Know, Headlong, Spies, and Skios. Some of his plays include The Two of Us, Donkey’s Years, Clouds, Balmoral, Make and Break, Noises Off, Benefactors, First and Last, Look Look, Audience, Plays: Two, Methuen, Here, Alarms and Excursions: More Plays than One, Copenhagen, Democracy, and Afterlife. His non-fiction works include The Day of the Dog, The Book of Fub, On the Outskirts, At Bay in Gear Street, Speak After the Beep: Studies in the Art of Communicating with Inanimate and Semi-animate Objects, Constructions, Celia\'s Secret: An Investigation, The Human Touch: Our part in the creation of the universe, Stage Directions: Writing on Theatre, Travels with a Typewriter, and My Father\'s Fortune: A Life. He is married to biographer and journalist Claire Tomalin.

Michael Frayn was born in 1933 in Mill Hill, a suburb in the London Borough of Barnet. He attended Kingston Grammar School and Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He studied Philosophy in college. He started his career as a reporter and columnist for The Guardian and The Observer. He also began to write his novels at this time.
