Maeve Binchy Snell was a celebrated and famous Irish novelist, playwright, short story writer, columnist and speaker. Her novels include Light a Penny Candle, Echoes, Firefly Summer, Silver Wedding, Circle of Friends, The Copper Beech, The Glass Lake, Evening Class, Tara Road, Scarlet Feather, Quentins, Nights of Rain and Stars, Whitethorn Woods, Heart and Soul, and Minding Frankie. Her other writings include Central Line, Victoria Line, Dublin 4, London Transports, The Lilac Bus, Story Teller: Collection of Short Stories, Dublin People, Cross Lines, This Year It Will Be Different: And Other Stories, The Return Journey, Star Sullivan, The Builders, Deeply Regretted By, Aches and Pains, A Time to Dance, and The Maeve Binchy Writer\'s Club among others.
Maeve Binchy was born on May 28, 1940 in Dalkey, County Dublin, Ireland. She attended University College in Dublin. She started her career as a teacher and moved on to become a journalist and a writer. Her debut novel was Light a Penny Candle.
Maeve Binchy died on July 30, 2012.
