Lee Falk was the legendary American writer, theater director, and producer. He is most famous for his creation of super heroes such as The Phantom and Mandrake the Magician. He was born in 1911 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was named Leon Harrison Gross. He spent his childhood and teenage in Missouri.
During the Second World War, Lee Falk worked as Chief of Propaganda at KMOX radio station at St. Louis, where he became the leader of the radio foreign language division of the Office of War Information.
Falk’s major love after cartooning was the stage. He produced over 300 plays and directed several of them. He was inspired by characters such as Tarzan and Kipling’s Mowgli.
