Kathy Acker was an American sex-positive feminist writer, playwright, and essayist. Kathy Acker was born in New York City. She read classics at Brandeis University and graduated from the University of California, San Diego. She taught at several institutions such as the San Francisco Art Institute, University of Idaho, University of California, San Diego; University of California, Santa Barbara; the California Institute of Arts, and Roanoke College.

Kathy Acker died of breast-cancer complications in Tijuana, Mexico.
