David John Moore Cornwell better known as John Le Carre is a British author of espionage writings. His novels include Call for the Dead, A Murder of Quality, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, The Looking Glass War, A Small Town in Germany, The Naive and Sentimental Lover, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Honourable Schoolboy, Smiley\'s People, The Little Drummer Girl, A Perfect Spy, The Russia House, The Secret Pilgrim, The Night Manager, Our Game, The Tailor of Panama, Single & Single, The Constant Gardener, Absolute Friends, The Mission Song, A Most Wanted Man, and Our Kind of Traitor. His screen plays include End of the Line, A Murder of Quality, and The Tailor of Panama. Some of his non-fiction works include The Good Soldier and The United States Has Gone Mad. Some of his other writings are Dare I Weep, Dare I Mourn?, What Ritual is Being Observed Tonight?, The Writer and The Horse, and The King Who Never Spoke.

Le Carre was born in 1931 in Poole, Dorset, England to Richard Thomas Archibald Cornwell and Olive Cornwell. He attended St Andrew\'s Preparatory School, Sherborne School, University of Bern, and Lincoln College, Oxford. In the meantime, he also spied for the British Security Service having previously worked for the Intelligence Corps of the British Army. Later he taught at the elite Eton College and became an MI5 officer later. He spoke against President George Bush during the onset of the Iraq war. Novelist Nick Harkaway is his son.
