John Irving is an American writer and he is famous for the widely-acclaimed books such as The World According to Garp, The Cider House Rules, A Prayer for Owen Meany, A Widow for One Year, Setting Free the Bears, The Water-Method Man, The 158-Pound Marriage, The World According to Garp, The Hotel New Hampshire, A Son of the Circus, The Imaginary Girlfriend, Trying to Save Piggy Sneed, My Movie Business, The Fourth Hand, A Sound Like Someone Trying Not to Make a Sound, Until I Find You, Last Night in Twisted River, and In One Person. His latest book is In One Person.
Irving was born in Exeter in New Hampshire, U.S. He published his book, Setting Free the Bears at the age of 26. Other books followed while he also accepted an offer for the post of an Assistant Professor in Mount Holyoke College.
