Giani Gurdit Singh was born on Feb 24, 1923 at Mithewal Village in Punjab. He was a celebrated Punjabi author and journalist. Considered a virtual classic of Punjabi literature, Giani Gurdit\'s \'Mera Pind\' was first published in 1961; and now runs in its seventh edition. The non-fiction novel is a comprehensive study of the real life in a Punjabi village. The book has been part of syllabus in schools, colleges and University. Apart from his writing style, Giani Gurdit also received acclaim for his research work on Guru Granth Sahib and other Sikh scriptures. His works included:Ithas Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji - Mudhavani, Ithas Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji - Bhagat Bani, Bhat Tay Uhna di Rachnaa, Takht Sri Damdama Sahib di Khoaj, Mera Pind, Mere Pind da Jivan, Panjab da Sabhiachaar Panjab dia Loak Kahania, and others. He was also a well-known journalist, editor and researcher.
