Eoin Colfer was born on 14 May, 1965, in Wexford Ireland. He is an Irish comedian and a writer famously known for his works in Artemis Fowl series. Most of his works reached the New York bestseller list. He also wrote the sixth installment on The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy which was named And Another Thing.

Born on May 14, 1965, in Wexford which is in the East Coast of Ireland, Eoin Colfer was brought up by his father who was an elementary school teacher and his mother who was a drama teacher. As a child he was into writing which were inspired by the Viking’s history which was taught in his school.

He earned his college degree from Dublin University and later on worked as a primary school teacher in Wexford. In the year 1991 he got married and the following year he along with his wife left for Saudi Arabia. They worked in Saudi Arabia, Italy and Tunisia from 1992 till the end of 1996.

In the year 1998, his first book Benny and Omar was published. The book has been translated into many languages. This was followed by a sequel to the book in the year 1999. This book was short listed for the Bisto Book of the Year Award in the year 2000. Besides this he also wrote novels for children - The Wish List, Going Potty which was released in 1999, Ed’s Funny Feet, and Ed’s Bed which were published in 2000 and 2001 respectively.

In the year 2001, the first series of Artemis Fowl was published. In order to fully concentrate in his writings he resigned from his teaching job. In this book Artemis Fowl, he incorporated the legends and histories of Ireland. This was evident from the protagonist who is a twelve year old boy holding a leprechaun to ransom. The next series of the book Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident was published in the year 2002 followed by Artemis Fowl: The Eternity Code. The fourth and fifth series of the book were published in the year 2005 and 2006 which were called Artemis Fowl: The Opal Deception, and Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony.

The latest series of the Artemis Fowl was published in the year 2008 titled Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox. The same year, his novel The Airman was published. Eoin Colfer was also asked to write the sixth series of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy in 2008. This book was out in the year 2009 as And Another Thing. As of now Eoin Colfer lives with his wife Jackie and their two children Sean and Finn in Wexford Ireland.
